G'day.
Thanks for stopping by Making It Up, Wandering Along. The title is a play on "making it up as I go along," which is a relatively accurate description of both this Substack and my writing experience thus far. Basically, I've no idea what I'm doing.
However, a little over a year ago, thanks to a chance meeting at a comic convention, I was offered the chance to write my first book! While I had written a bit before, mostly for websites and an attempt to do the Medium thing, I had never attempted anything of the scale of a full book.
Towards the end of February this year I completed the first draft. With that milestone came a confidence and feeling that maybe I might actually be half decent at this writing lark, which brings us neatly to the purpose of this Substack.
I'm very much hoping that my current book, The History of SEGA, will lead to more projects, both factual and fictional. I know it'll a bit of a journey, so Making It Up, Wandering Along will be a place for me to talk about, discuss and vent on the whole experience. Exactly what I'll post I'm still figuring out, but that is the general gist. I'll most likely post from time to time about my other hobbies as well; comics, collecting and video games.
This post represents my first interaction with Substack outside of setting up my account, so please bare with me while I figure the place out. I hope that you will follow along on this journey, and I look forward to meeting other Substakers along the way.
TTFN (ta ta for now).
Best of luck on your publishing journey! Looking forward to hearing more about it.
Wishing you luck with your book, your Substack and your writing journey. Thank you so for subscribing. I am honored and hope to hear from you in comments or write me, of course. ~Mary
